 We all do it... (yes, you) scrolling, that is, (see the video at Dawnian Productions on You Tube) on our mobile phones/devices! Everywhere you go, you see it. Head down, eyes watching a screen, looking up occasionally so as to avoid a street rubbish bin, a telegraph pole, a person. Even in our vehicles, we have them...screens, that is! Screens are ubiquitous. They are on our fridges, TV's and Computers, (of course), watches, wrist exercise monitors, batteries, smartphones, ATM's (ever-diminishing), tablets, coffee machines, whiteboards, entertainment systems, sewing machines, fitness machines, cameras, medical equipment...and the list goes on (check on Temu and you will see what I mean). Obviously, not all these screens involve scrolling but most do. At this point, one could get philosophical and possibly even spiritual...or one could look up from their scrolling and wonder what the fuss is all about (probably someone under 30 yrs of age!).But, really why do we do it?   The word, 'Martyr' comes from the Greek word, 'martur' and means 'witness' or 'testimony'. The video, 'Martyr' that I have just completed (see Dawnian Production on YouTube) was a Memorial project for me. Ever since I witnessed that scene on the beach in Libya ten years ago, where those 21 young Christian men, gave their lives for Jesus, I have been deeply moved by stories of Christians around the world who have paid with their lives for their testimony to Jesus. This video project for me was personal. Even in the research / production phase of this video, I was impacted on what I read and saw.  There are approximately 380 million Christians in the world in 2025, that are facing severe persecution, including being a martyr. One in seven Christians worldwide, are now facing persecution. Just a few years ago it was one in nine. (what might that ratio be in 2029!)   Have you ever thought about the date on which you will die? I have often reflected on this. Will you die on April 5th, 20..., or will it be on October 17th, 20...? Each day you wake up, is one day closer to your 'departure.' How do you feel about that? Have you thought about what happens next? When you die, will you immediately cease all consciousness and start to deteriorate in the grave? (assuming you are buried rather than cremated). Is there an afterlife, and, if there is, what will it be like? Is there a heaven and a hell? Does all this talk of death disturb you? I can't believe I've waited this long to make a video entitled 'The Rock'. I'm not sure why I say that, apart from the fact that the word, Rock is synonymous with so much around us, at the moment. It is such a strong-sounding word. There is rock music, people who are called the Rock (e.g. Dwayne Johnson), It describes something firm and stable (what the world needs about now!). Strangely 'rock and sway', also describe the movement of the earth during an earthquake, tsunami or volcanic eruption, It describes things that one sees happening in the world which 'rocks' (greatly unsettles and disturbs) one's worldview and the understanding of what is normal and rational. It also describes the narcissistic (overly confident, self centred worship) world in which we live. And I haven't even mentioned Jesus as the Rock!   What is it about Reflections, that slightly scare us? We look in the mirror. It shows us exactly as we are. No soft lighting, no post production editing, no special lenses or filters...just us! How do you feel when you look in the mirror? What do you see? Who do you see? Most of the bathrooms I've been in have lighting that could not be described as mood lighting! The lighting is usually harsh and that makes, what we see, even worse. I suspect most woman (and probably a lot of man) are very dissatisfied at what they see when they turn on the light and look at themselves in the mirror each morning. Is there anything we can do? Yes, there is. It's quite simple, really. Either get rid of all of the mirrors around you - or, just don't look! That sounds easy! However, there is something irresistible about a mirror. I'm sure most of us have seen (or done it ourselves) a person walking past a shop window, a shiny car or billboard, giving oneself a sideways glance at one'...

ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) is something I have been personally aware of for quite some time, but not in the way it is now labelled as ASMR. ASMR has been described by some as Musical Frisson (the sudden strong feeling of excitement or fear; a thrill) - the chills you get while listening to music. It has become a phenomenon around the world, and is extremely popular, especially in the short version of YouTube videos (e.g., Tik Tok). ASMR was first coined by Jennifer Allen in a Facebook post in 2010, after participating in online health forums about this sensory experience. She created the term to describe the tingling, relaxing feeling experienced by some people (it is estimated somewhere between 10-20% of people experience ASMR) when they encounter certain triggers, such as crumpling paper, turning pages, rain, whispering, typing, tapping. Experts in ASMR suggest that there are 4 main triggers in ASMR - whispering, personal attention, crisp sounds and slow movement...

 I was reading recently about the Groningen (the 'g' is silent) Protocol. It was mentioned as part of the situation in the Netherlands regarding euthanasia. I wasn't shocked (and that shocked me!). It was written about in such a cavalier way and mentioned as just part of the normal legislative framework of ending human life, (not just any human life, but ending the life of a country's newest and most vulnerable citizens!). Even though I was shocked that I wasn't shocked, I sort of understood. It seems to me that the Protocol was put in place to protect doctors from being sued for, what might be perceived by some, as medical negligence. I understand that too. I understand also about new-borns with severe medical diagnosis. But there is a gaping hole in legislation such as this...and this is when I begin to weep.
