The Crucifixion (and subsequent resurrection) of Jesus Christ is an event unmatched by any other. It is the 'cornerstone', the pivotal point of history. To Christians, it represents the absolute core of their faith. The Crucifixion is viewed as the ultimate sacrifice where Jesus took the burden of humanity's sins upon Himself. The Resurrection confirms that this sacrifice was accepted by His Father, giving us victory over sin and death, through Jesus' death on the cross. Christians believe that through Jesus' death, the punishment for their sin was paid in full. They call this The Gospel or Good News. The Resurrection means that believers in Jesus are declared righteous before God.
