Pierced

The Crucifixion (and subsequent resurrection) of Jesus Christ is an event unmatched by any other. It is the 'cornerstone', the pivotal point of history. To Christians, it represents the absolute core of their faith. The Crucifixion is viewed as the ultimate sacrifice where Jesus took the burden of humanity's sins upon Himself. The Resurrection confirms that this sacrifice was accepted by His Father, giving us victory over sin and death, through Jesus' death on the cross. Christians believe that through Jesus' death, the punishment for their sin was paid in full. They call this The Gospel or Good News. The Resurrection means that believers in Jesus are declared righteous before God. Because Jesus conquered death, Christians hold the promise of their own future resurrection and eternal life in heaven. If this seems all a little weird and religious to you...it is, and it's not! The Christian religion, is more of a relationship than a religion. Yes, it seems a lit...

Safety

Image
Dawnian Productions has just completed, 'Safety', our latest video (now on YouTube). This is the first of a trilogy about the situation Christians currently find themselves in the world in which we live. This situation of soft hatred, vitriolic expressions, sarcasm, being unwelcome in public and work spaces, the need to be re-educated, has happened relatively quickly (in the West). However it is commonplace for Christians in many countries all around the world. What does this look like and what does it mean? The Christian faith, and those who love Jesus, are seen as problematic in our society. Christians are bigoted, hateful, simple-minded (in the worst sense of that expression), ignorant, weak, believers of fables, unintelligent, dangerous, unwelcome, narrow-minded, God-Botherer, hypocrite, fundamentalist (and the list could go on!). Most of us appreciate a smiling face, friendliness, a warm relationship, being accepted. We, at Dawnian Productions, are aware that this is chang...

A Pastoral Care Story

Image
A Pastoral Care Story. This is Dawnian Production's latest video. It now can be viewed on YouTube. This Pastoral Care Story is part of my own Chaplain experience over the years. It speaks of an interaction (representative of many different pastoral care connections) where a person, who was in spiritual distress due to loss of meaning, was able to sense God again in the reconnection to something (a Cello) that had provided significance and purpose in his life. Dawnian Productions plans to make 'A Pastoral Care Story', the first in a series, to encourage people in their own interactions with others. Be blessed as you listen, reflect, take time to hear the 'heart cry' of others and be intentional and gentle as you pursue God's purpose that He has for everyone.

My Enemy

Image
My Enemy. In Luke 6:27-28, Jesus spoke these words '...Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you and pray for those who spitefully use you.' As Christians, these words are very familiar to us, but when one compare these words to what one sees and reads about around the world - how people, governments, nations and cultures interact with each other, one sees the opposite. I have never seen a time where there has been as much blatant disrespect, open hatred and animosity, acrimony, ill-will, antagonism, contempt, hostility and prejudice, as I have seen in today's world. One could spend a lifetime analysing why this is. One is drawn to 2 Timothy Chapter 3 in the Bible (We would encourage you to read it) where such things are foreshadowed in the last days.  One doesn't have to be a Christian to notice these things.  Dawnian Productions has just completed our latest video, 'My Enemy' This is now on YouTube. If you are reading this, ...

Eternity

Image
Eternity...the latest from Dawnian Productions and now on YouTube. Every heartbeat is a whisper of passing time. Every sunrise is one less that we will ever see. We build, we strive, we dream, yet all of our days slip quietly toward the horizon of eternity. The world teaches us to live for the moment, but the Bible calls us to live in the light of God's Word, and to follow in the footsteps of our Saviour and Lord. Eternity is not a distant idea - it is the destination of every soul. Beyond the final breath, stands the God who knows our name, sees our brokenness, and, through Jesus Christ, offers forgiveness, mercy and everlasting life to every person on planet Earth. The cross reaches further than death, and the empty tomb declares that the Grace, Mercy, Love and Faithfulness of God, is over and above all. Our prayer, at Dawnian Productions, is that you will see beyond the distractions we face each day, to the One who stepped into time that we might share Eternity with Him. '....

Touching Grass

Image
Touching Grass (Dawnian Productions latest video on YouTube).Have you ever felt that enough is enough! So many electronic devices, screens, complex instructions, passwords, QR Codes, wasted time etc, etc!! Have you taken off your shoes recently and walked in a field of grass? Try it. It is absolutely lovely! Have you recently stopped and touched the leaves on a tree and noticed how intricate and beautiful they are? Have you sat on a swinging chair and enjoyed the winter sun? Have you recently walked barefoot on the sand at the beach and as you looked at the ocean waves, knew in your heart that what you were looking at, was designed by a Creator? ? Have you recently looked at a rugged, majestic mountain and sensed something of the transcendent? Have you recently watched a sunrise or sunset that left you in awe? Have you recently looked up at a rainbow against a backdrop of a stormy sky, and noticed its beauty and its protective covering as it arches over the landscape? Have you ever wan...

Metadata.

Image
Dawnian Productions has just added the video 'Metadata' to its channel on YouTube. We live in an age obsessed with what can be measured, tracked, analysed and monetised. Every click, pause, purchase and location becomes part of a digital profile - a collection of metadata that tells the world who it thinks we are. Yet beneath the satire lies a deeper question, 'Is that really our identity?' Modern culture increasingly defines people by their data, productivity algorithms and online presence. We become statistics and consumers instead of 'image-bearers'. The danger is not merely technological; it is spiritual. When our worth is determined by what can be countered, we begin to forget the value of what cannot! God has never known us through metadata. He knows us personally. Before there was a digital footprint, our Creator saw us, loved us and called us by name. He sees, not just our action, but our motives, fears, hopes and the quiet moments that no database ca...

Tapping Out.

Image
Dawnian Productions has just completed, 'Tapping Out' (now available to view on YouTube). For those of you who are unsure of what 'Tapping Out' means. It signifies that one has given up, quit or has admitted defeat. 'Tapping out' is an expression I have become more aware of recently. It is something I have witnessed in other people. I have also recognised it in myself. One might be having a conversation, reading instructions on how to do something, listening to someone talk or explain something and I can see by their expression, their eyes, their body posture...that they have tapped out (I would describe this in myself as, 'eyes glazing over').  We live in an age of convenient exits. If a task becomes difficult, a relationship becomes complicated, or an idea challenges our assumptions, there's always a button to press, another distraction to chase, or another device to focus on. We've become accustomed to abandoning books, conversations, commitm...

The Naked Truth.

Image
Dawnian Productions has just completed the video, 'The Naked Truth' (now available on You Tube). Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a prolific Danish author, poet and playwright. He is famous for the many literary fairy tales he penned, such as, 'The Ugly Duckling', 'The Emperor's New Clothes' and 'The Steadfast Tin Soldier'. Our video celebrates Andersen's literary genius, while reflecting on the story, 'The Emperor's New Clothes' and how it exposes the banality of the current cultural meme's, behaviours and 'truths'. We have realised that many people may not be aware of Hans Christian Andersen's writings, but we would encourage people to check him out. He explored a range of themes in his writing - the pain of being an outsider, the power of transformation, the clash between innocence and adult materialism, and the profound, often tragic sacrifices made for love. Enjoy and reflect.

The Password.

Image
Passwords are everywhere. They now include passcodes, PINS, access codes, login credentials, authentication keys, security tokens, verification codes, biometrics, fingerprints, digital keys, QR codes, OTP, encryption keys...and the list goes on. Those of you who are under 30yrs of age, will say, "Yeah, what's the problem?" Those of you who are somewhat older will still be scratching their head about 'OTP' (one time password or passcode). I've often wondered if it is possible to live in the 21st Century without having a password or passcode. Dawnian Productions has just completed a short video, 'The Password'. It can now be viewed on YouTube. The word, 'Password' first appeared in the late 1700's. It was used to describe a secret, spoken word required to get passed a sentry or guard. The Etymology of 'Password' is interesting. Roman soldiers used 'watchwords' to identify friends from foes at night. In the Bible, the Gileadi...

Final Disclosure.

Image
Final Disclosure, (the latest video from Dawnian Productions). There is so much talk about alien/UAP Disclosure in the media of late. Every news platform is talking about it - from the types of extraterrestrial entities encountered by humans, to the US Government outlining its timetable for disclosure. One begins to wonder whether it is news or is a distraction from what is really happening elsewhere. I suppose only time will tell. One can fall into conspiracy theory territory in this space and start believing unbelievable social media UFO/UAP stories of human abductions, strange sights and encounters etc. And then there is outright scepticism! Where do you sit regarding all of this? I've met people who are genuinely excited and looking forward to the first alien encounter (one might assume it would be broadcast live on global TV networks). It seems that most people believe that the first extraterrestrial encounter will be friendly. What if it isn't? What then? Something to thi...

Iran

Image
Iran. This is the latest from Dawnian Productions. It is now on YouTube. Using only stock footage, we have (hopefully) created a snapshot of Iran. This has been a long, complex production process, which we hope honours the Iranian people and their culture. It is an information video and the longest we have ever done. We hope you get to know a little more about the Iranian people and their culture, from this video, and you will be inspired to dig a little deeper into this fascinating country and its people. For those who have a Christian faith, our prayer, at Dawnian Productions, is that you will use this resource, to assist you to pray more intentionally for these beautiful people in Iran, as they 'journey' towards freedom and their one true hope...Jesus. Enjoy. Jordon will be the next Middle Eastern country we will explore. Watch out for it.

'Low Light Works' YouTube Channel

Image
Introducing Dawnian Productions new YouTube Channel, 'Low Light Works' . It has seven videos at the moment, with more to come. This Channel will focus on visual content with, mostly, minimal narration. Dawnian Productions will continue to post video content as usual.

Conversion Therapy.

Image
Conversion Therapy. In a world where many words have been bleached of their original meanings, and have been twisted to totally change, in many cases, the perception of reality, the expression, 'Conversion Therapy' has the capacity to instantly polarise people, wherever it is expressed. Why is that? The words themselves are benign and describe normal events and situations, however over the years, this expression has become associated with ideology, extreme agendas and misrepresentation. We, at Dawnian Productions, have produced, 'Conversion Therapy,' with the focus on Christian Conversion - what it is, what it's not and what it means. Trusting in Jesus and identifying oneself as a Christian, is part of the Christian Conversion process. It is not therapy, it is transformation of   the heart and is visible to all. Christian Conversion is rarely dramatic but the transformation certainly is! For all those who have experienced Christian Conversion and subsequent baptism,...

Stadium

Image
A  Stadium is a unique place where so much happens, mostly significant. It is many things to many people - a game venue, a place where sporting contests take place,  a 'colosseum' as it  were, a place of community, a place of fun, a place of 'worship', a place of wealth, a place of pain and tears, a place of victory and loss and a place of history. Most of us have been to a sporting match at a stadium. We usually come away with memories of the colours, sounds, the music, the spectacle, the actual match and of course, the score line. Whenever I attend a sporting contest at a stadium, I always see it as so much more that kicking a ball around, batting, bowling and catching. It is somehow bigger. It is as if the whole match represents something larger than ourselves, almost transcendent. It's like the contest is so much more than the sum of its parts. A bit like life, really. We are born. We mature and enter the 'contest' of life with some training. We step ont...

The Human Story - Part 3, The Choice

Image
' The Human Story, The Choice'  (Part 3 of 3) is a video now available to be viewed on the Dawnian Productions YouTube Channel. This is the third video in a trilogy. This video is about Good News (often referred to as The Gospel). For Christians, this is the core of the Christian Faith...a beautiful relationship, broken and restored. God, our Creator created humankind. He had a very close relationship with His creation. Our first parents (Adam and Eve) sinned. They felt ashamed and naked. That beautiful relationship with their Creator was broken. The consequence of of sin was separation from God. God made a way that His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, would come to earth, live among us and pay the price for all sin that our first parents (and us) could not pay. Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross. He died, was buried and He arose (this event was witnessed by hundreds of people) from the dead. If one believes in Jesus and what He did at Calvary (crucified on a cross), the re...

Depletion

Image
Depletion is a depressive sounding word. It is lifeless, empty, diminishing and without hope. 'Depletion' is the name of the latest video just dropped onto YouTube, by Dawnian Productions. We felt that it was time to approach a current global issue that everyone is aware of (and talking about). We all know about the diminishing supplies of fuel. We also see the depletion of respectful, intelligent conversation on issues of difference. We see the depletion of the prospect of peace in the global community. We also see the depletion of the ability to see clearly what is right and wrong.  I love the word restoration. It is an antonym of depletion. Depletion defines the exhaustion of a resource, whereas restoration describes the process of refilling, gaining, expanding capacity, addition, boost and growth. What a contrast! Many of you may be feeling depleted at the moment given current circumstances. Can I encourage you to rest, take time out, reflect. Stop doing stuff and filling u...

Perfume

Image
' Perfume' can now be viewed on YouTube (Dawnian Productions). After events of the last few weeks, it felt good to be visually and 'virtually' immersed in things of fragrance and beauty. It was almost like being 'reborn'. When one reflects, one begins to realise how much beauty surrounds us in our everyday lives. Are you able to name some beautiful things in your life right now? (BTW, this is not a question just for women)...the morning light through a window, the smell of rain, a hot cup of tea or coffee, a quiet house early in the morning, a familiar road, music that finds you at the right moment, laughter that comes unexpectantly. Of course, as a male, one might add a few other things (I'll let you guess what they are). Then there are beautiful human things...real forgiveness, someone remembering something small about you, sitting with someone in silence without being awkward, a child's trust, old people holding hands, someone who chooses to stay whe...
