Catherine Genovese, a 28 year old bar manager was walking home from work in the early hours of March 13th, 1964 in Queens (USA). She was attacked and stabbed in multiple assaults that took place over 35 minutes. Thirty eight (38) people witnessed the attacks but did nothing to help, including phoning the police. This situation is quite infamous and has been studied for many years. The case became a touchstone for the 'Bystander Effect' and 'Genovese Syndrome'. It was found in subsequent investigations that the extent of public apathy was exaggerated and many who witnessed the situation were not fully aware of how serious it was. This incident led to the first Neighbourhood Watch Program.

I mentioned this to highlight the fact that everything we do in 2025 is visually recorded using a range of devices, e.g. mobile phones, video cameras, security cameras, police cameras, vehicle cameras, drones, just to name a few. It has been estimated that the average person in a Western Country is recorded around 70 times a day! Imagine how such an incident would play out in 2025! It may have been livestreamed around the world to millions. I wonder what global conversations and societal changes would have been inspired by such an event? We will never know!!

This is a light-hearted look at this whole area of recording everything, and is not meant to be a definitive statement on 'alien disclosure'
